Grasscrete is the mixture of concrete and natural soil in a patterned structure. After sometimes, the grass will grow in areas where the soils are and in little time, the entire area will be covered with grasses. This, however, reduces the environmental impact of chemicals emits by concrete. All joking aside, we seriously recommend that you take selecting a contractor, well.. seriously. I’ve been in the contracting business for over 30 years, and I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. By being very cautious during the selection process, you are going to save yourself a LOT of headaches, and a LOT more dough in the process, trust me!!

Here are some red flags to look out for:

  • The contractor is hesitant to show you a license.

This may be obvious to some, but contractors must be licensed. If they don’t want to show you the license number or dodge related licensing questions, all I can say is… run! Pro tip: make sure the license is ACTIVE! Call your local business licensing organization to be sure.

  • The contractor has no previous work to showcase.

This could mean two things. One, they don’t have a ton of experience, or two, they don’t have any quality work to show. If that is the case, you may want to look into some other options.

  • Beware of too good to be true prices.

When a contractor quotes you a price well below others bidding for the same job, this can be a huge red flag. In many cases, they will come in low to get the job, and then raise the prices afterwards and use all kinds of excuses as to why this had to happen.

  • Beware of too good to be true timelines.

If a contractor promises that the job will be done much faster than you think is realistic, beware. In some cases, they will be telling you something that just sounds good. If you can, speak to previous clients of the contractor to find out the real deal.
